Terms of Service

By downloading or using gather, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them — they're written in plain English because we think legalese is as painful as a 15-message group chat about where to eat.

1. Accepting these terms

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and gather. By creating an account or using the app in any way, you confirm you are at least 13 years old and agree to these Terms. If you're using gather on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. What gather provides

gather is a social scheduling app that helps groups of people make plans. We provide:

• Group event creation and coordination tools
• Calendar availability syncing (when you choose to connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar)
• Venue suggestions and voting
• Friend connections and social nudges
• Photo Moments for capturing event memories (coming soon)

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We'll do our best to give notice of significant changes.

3. Your account

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information when signing up
• Keep your password confidential
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms without prior notice.

4. Zero-tolerance content policy

gather has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. This is a firm policy with no exceptions.

You agree not to post, share, or transmit any content that:

• Is hateful, discriminatory, or constitutes hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic
• Harasses, threatens, bullies, or intimidates any person
• Is sexually explicit or pornographic
• Depicts or glorifies graphic violence or illegal activity
• Is spam, fraudulent, or designed to deceive
• Violates the privacy or intellectual property rights of any person

Accounts found to be in breach of this policy will be suspended or permanently banned without prior notice. Content will be removed immediately. We act on all reports within 24 hours.

4a. Acceptable use

Beyond the content policy above, gather is for personal, social use. You also agree not to:

• Use gather for commercial solicitation or unsolicited contact
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the app or its data
• Use gather in any way that could damage or overload our infrastructure

4b. User-generated content and Photo Moments

gather allows users to create events, write notes, and upload photos via Photo Moments. Because other users can see this content, the following rules apply to everything you post:

• You must have the right to share any image you upload
• Images and text must not violate the zero-tolerance policy in section 4
• Images must not violate the privacy or rights of any person depicted

4c. Reporting and blocking

If you see content or behaviour that violates these Terms, you can report it directly in the app using the report button available on events, notes, photos, and user profiles. You can also block any user from their profile — blocking immediately removes their content from your view and notifies us.

We review all reports within 24 hours. Confirmed violations result in content removal and, where appropriate, account suspension or permanent ban.

5. Your content

Content you create in gather — event names, venue suggestions, photos — remains yours. By submitting content, you grant gather a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display that content to the people you've shared it with. We don't use your content for advertising or share it outside your friend group without your permission.

6. Limitation of liability

gather is provided "as is." We do our best to keep the service running smoothly, but we can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, gather is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app — including, but not limited to, missed plans or failed notifications. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (which for free users is €0).

7. Third-party integrations

gather integrates with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Mapbox, and other third-party services. Your use of those integrations is subject to those services' own terms and privacy policies. We're not responsible for the actions or availability of third-party services.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as gather evolves. We'll notify you of material changes within the app. Continuing to use gather after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account at any time.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
